A LitRPG stat calculator, not just a stat block

Type a character's level and seven attributes into one row and every derived value recalculates: HP, MP, stamina, physical and magic damage, crit, dodge, carry weight, move speed. The coefficients are yours to tune. Free, no signup.

What is in the workbook

  • Core stats

Seven attributes, pre-filled and internally consistent: what each governs, its exact per-point effect, commoner value, soft cap, and hard cap. Overwrite any of it.

  • Derived stats

A live calculator. Fifteen derived values built from a coefficient grid, with caps on crit and dodge so a high-level character cannot become unhittable by accident.

  • Feel bands

Seven bands of numeric value mapped to what a reader should perceive at that level, with a real-world anchor for each and who in your world sits there.

  • Prose tell and failure mode

Two columns per stat that most templates leave out: how a reader notices the stat without being told the number, and what breaks in your story if it runs away.

A worked character

The sheet ships with an example so the arithmetic is visible before you change a coefficient.

  • Level 25, VIT 41, INT 29

Gives 742 max HP, 410 max MP, 21.2 MP a minute, 83.6 physical damage a hit, and 129 kg of carry weight. Change one attribute and every one of those moves.

  • What a band means

Vitality 41 sits in band 3 (Veteran, the best in a large city). The reader should see other characters react before the character acts.

  • The tell, not the number

High strength is not "STR 80". It is what the world stops resisting: doors, chains, and grown men. The stat is legible in the prose or it is decoration.

The failure this prevents

Stat drift. In chapter 12 a protagonist with 30 Strength strains to lift a fallen beam; in chapter 90, with 80 Strength, they strain to lift a fallen beam again, because you wrote the scene and not the number. Readers of this genre notice, and they will tell you.

The quieter failure is the invisible build: stats rise every few chapters, nothing about the character changes, and the numbers become a progress bar readers learn to skim. Filling in the prose tell for each stat is what keeps a status window meaningful.

Prefer something printable?

This workbook is for calculating. If you want a one-page sheet to print or fill in by hand, the LitRPG stat sheet template is the same idea in PDF form, and that page also carries two free character trackers.

From spreadsheet to tracked series

A calculator handles one character at one moment. Clifford's LitRPG stat tracker keeps every character's stats per chapter, so you can see what a value was in chapter 12 and what it is now, across a whole series. It is part of the LitRPG writing software, alongside the continuity checker.

LitRPG stat spreadsheet FAQ

Can I use my own attributes?
Yes. The seven stats are a starting point; rename them, delete them, or add your own (perception, faith, sanity, corruption) and the derived grid follows.
Do I need Excel?
No. The formulas are standard and recalculate in Google Sheets, LibreOffice, and Numbers.
How is this different from the stat sheet PDF?
The PDF is a printable character sheet you fill in. This workbook calculates: change a stat and every derived value updates from coefficients you set.
Why cap crit and dodge?
An uncapped dodge stat is the fastest route to a protagonist who cannot be hit, which quietly removes the tension from every fight you write afterwards.
